ACCOMMODATIONS: The Villa has two large master suites with king size beds and three additional bedroom suites with queen size beds. Each bedroom suite has its own patio/deck. There are three bedrooms located on the first floor and two on the ground level. One of the bedroom suites on the ground level is separate from the main house.
PHONE: The house telephone number is 340.713.8814, this number works solely for local calling, not long distance. Due to the secluded location of The Villa, there is no cell phone reception on the property; however, guests are encouraged to use WiFi Calling. .
WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS: While most guests come to the Caribbean to relax and get away from business and emails, sometimes that is not possible. The Villa is equipped with wireless Internet service provided by Broadband VI. Like most technology, the wireless signal is strongest closer to the modem.
SATELLITE TELEVISION: Satellite and Internet services may be subject to some interruption during occasional periods of extreme weather, when the signal simply cannot penetrate localized thunderstorms and other severe weather events.
WATER: The Villa doesn’t access the islands main water supply. Water is provided through a rainwater collection system. Rainwater is collected from the roof and stored in large cisterns under the house, and as such, you will probably notice it is a lot softer than you are used to on the mainland. Water conservation is very important across the island, so please try to save water.
ELECTRICITY: Electrical power in the Caribbean is extremely expensive. Average homeowner bills can be five times the amount of that on the mainland. It is very important to conserve energy by turning off lights and unplugging electrical appliances when not in use. We are also currently in the process of installing an automatic generator to ensure power is consistently available on the property during periods of power outages. This is currently in “permit review” with the local government office.
LIGHTS: As with many rental properties, light switches can be confusing. The main electrical panel is located in the front of The Villa in a separate room; however, there are sub-panels located throughout the house.
GARBAGE: Garbage should be left at the bins close to the pool area.
LAUNDRY: There is a laundry room separate from the main house. Please be conscious of water conservation when using the washer and set levels appropriately for the load you are washing. The Villa is also equipped with an iron and ironing board in the utility closet.
AIR CONDITIONING: The bedrooms at The Villa are air conditioned, including the TV room on the first level. Because of the high cost of electricity on the island, AC’s should be off when they are not in use.
BEACH EQUIPMENT: Beach towels, a cooler and kids toys are located in the utility closet. Other equipment such as beach chairs, snorkeling and diving gear can be rented at the local beaches, like Cane Bay.
THE "WILD" LIFE: The small, long creature you will often see running across the roads around the island is a mongoose—they have ensured that there are no snakes anywhere on the island. You will see a few harmless lizards around The Villa, which control the insect population. Also, at certain times of year, particularly after a lot of rain, you will find a few gungalos around the house and on the terrace. These worm-like insects, with lots of little legs, are not centipedes and are completely harmless. They die within a day, so the majority that you may find will already be dead. Just brush them up and throw them outside. Try not to step on them—they make an ugly mess that is difficult to clean!
HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE: The Villa is cleaned before guests arrive and there is also a mid-week service as part of your rental agreement. However, if you require additional housekeeping services, this carries an additional charge and is paid directly to the vendor. Guests are encouraged to let us know about daily cleaning before their stay.
